NDP Funpack!

Hey guys!
A few weeks back, I attended a media event to learn more about the various engagement initiatives for NDP2016 and the best part was that the NDP2016 Funpack was finally revealed (I was really excited about it)!!! I am so lucky to be one of the first few to get my hands on them! :D

I especially love this year’s Funpack’s design and I’d totally bring it out on a casual day out for a swim or to the beach! :p It’s design is clean, simple and waterproof! Another plus point would be that it’s versatile since it can either be used as a backpack or a sling bag.

Here are the contents inside of the NDP2016 Funpack!
NDP 2016 will leverage technology to present a refreshed NDP experience that seeks to promote active audience participation. Each Funpack will contain selected interactive items which aim to engage spectators before and during the show.

1.                   LED Wristband. The LED wristband is programmable and can be wirelessly synchronized with the show’s lights and sounds. It is capable of emitting lights with varying intensity, in 16 different colours and modes (i.e., pulse, fade, solid and strobe). In wearing this LED wristband, every spectator effectively becomes an integral part of the show, collectively contributing to massive visual displays and being able to enjoy a truly immersive experience.
2.                   Souvenir Magazine. The souvenir magazine is embedded with digital content that aims to engage readers in an interactive way. With the use of augmented reality, readers can access additional content – such as images and videos – using the NDPeeps App on their mobile devices. For instance, readers will be able to view a 3-D time-lapse video of the National Stadium’s evolution by focusing the camera of their mobile device on a picture of the National Stadium in the magazine. The mobile device’s in-built motion tilt and accelerometer sensors allow users to pan and zoom during this 3-D time-lapse video, allowing the spectator to appreciate different perspectives of the transformation of the National Stadium.

In addition to the interactive items, there are also others such as NEWater, Hello Panda Biscuits, Face Tattoos, the Singapore Flag and the Singapore Scarf etc. :D

During the event, we also had to chance to see a sample of the mural named "Our Collective Dreams and Aspirations"

"Our Collective Dreams and Aspirations encourage students and youths to share their dreams and aspirations for Singapore’s future through painting. The use of creative expression – in particular, abstract art which permits free and limitless expression – aims to stretch the imagination of Singaporeans in dreaming of a better future for Singapore. Under this initiative, more than 50,000 individual paintings will be digitally stitched together to form a large mosaic. This stitching of the individual paintings together symbolises the need for collective ownership in charting Singapore’s future. Renowned Singaporean artist, Mr Sun Yu-Li, will create abstract designs based on each of the 51 years of Singapore’s nation-building and overlay them atop the mosaic. The resulting Our Collective Dreams and Aspirations thus represent the collective journey of our nation over 51 years."

The actual physical mural will be displayed around the National Stadium from 23rd July till National Day,9th August 2016. Also, you can download the  NDPeeps App from 7 July and use it to trigger additional content from this mural! All you got to do is to switch on the app, place your mobile phone over the physical mural and images/videos of past NDPs will be played on your phone!! Kinda cool huh!! Not only so, contributors to the mural can also use the app to locate his/her very own individual artwork within the mosaic! :D

During the event we also got a chance to meet former TV artiste, Mr Edmund Chen!!

So glad we managed to catch a group picture with him!

"Our Pledge to Singapore is a collaborative effort by Mr Edmund Chen, and children with special needs from Pathlight School as they co-design this year’s Pledge Card. Through drawings by Mr Chen and the Pathlight School students which depict the past, present and future of Singapore, the Pledge Card celebrates the artistic talents of children with special needs and showcases their unique perspectives of what it means to be Singaporean. The resulting Pledge Card seeks to encourage Singaporeans to similarly reflect on what it means to be Singaporean, articulate their commitment to the nation and share how they can put these into action to build our Singapore of tomorrow. This initiative serves to remind Singaporeans that nation-building is a continuous endeavor as we work to build our future together."

2016 marks the first chapter of the next 50 years of nation-building and our journey towards SG100. In line with the forward-looking theme of “Building Our Singapore of Tomorrow”, the NDP 2016 Funpack bears a distinctively bold design to encourage Singaporeans to take bold steps in shaping our own future. The translucent skin of the Funpack – a first since the inception of NDP Funpacks in 1991 – is central to the bold design. The Funpacks come in the colours of our State flag, and serve as a reminder to be rooted to the values that define our collective strength and harmony.

At the end of the event, we all had a mini photoshoot with our Funpacks  :D The colours of the Funpack were even colour-coordinated just for the group photo hehe :p I can’t wait to see how this year’s national parade will turn out! :D

Cheers! :D

My journey to clearer skin

Hey guys!

I usually have the occasional breakout before my period which was manageable with topical creams. However as I was trying out a few new products my skin reacted badly to it. At that time I did not figure out that it was the products that was causing my skin to have breakouts and continued using it, causing my skin to be worse and worse. I was rather depressed as it was taking too long to heal and I got rather impatient. My confidence was like -23746871524% as concealer cannot conceal bumps on my skin. I just wanted to stay home all day. I have to be careful next time as I have sensitive skin and not all products will suit my skin type.

My hairstylist’s friend recommended me to go to Swiss Clinic to consult Dr Liu to help out with my skin problems. On my first visit, Dr Liu recommended me the Dual Yellow laser acne treatment.
He explained the benefits of the Dual Yellow laser which would treat my acne by destroying bacteria without damaging my skin and help heal my scars. It is also effective for pigmentation (freckles/age spots), wrinkles, stretch marks and also aids in skin rejuvenation. Even warts and moles can be treated effectively with the Dual Yellow laser. After he explained everything to me, I was super excited for the laser treatment! :D

Here's there treatment room! :D

The whole process was rather quick and took about 45 minutes :D I had to get my hair away from my face and have it all cleansed to prep my face before the laser treatment. The laser treatment was not painful at all! My eyes had to be shield from the bright lasers beams.

After the laser treatment I had a mask all over my face to soothe my skin :D To me it was sleep time.

After the whole treatment I realized that there was a difference to my skin and it was in a better condition than it was before. My skin was clearer, smoother and brighter. I was so happy with the results. Of course more treatments are needed to achieve even better results and I can't wait till I achieve flawless skin! :D

Dr Liu also prescribed me a few medications(Doxycline, Retinol A Cream, Prednisone) which I paid for to keep my acne under control :D

Two weeks later, I came for my next treatment! This time, it was the Carbon Peel Laser Treatment :D

This is the machine that they used for the laser treatment. :D

Before performing the laser treatment, a layer of carbon lotion is applied on my entire face and allowed to dry over a few minutes. During the procedure, laser light is shot on the skin and is absorbed by the carbon lotion. It helps to exfoliating the skin and removing any debris in the pores.

The carbon lotion made me look like an inverted panda :p Hehe. After the treatment, my face was rather red. Thank god they put a mask over my face to soothe and reduce all the redness :D

By the time I left the treatment room, my face was GLOWING O.O When I looked into the mirror I realised my pores were noticeably smaller :'D This treatment is suitable for people with acne, enlarged pores, oily skin. fine lines and dull skin. So glad I could see results in just 1 treatment :D Dr Liu did inform me that I might face breakouts after the treatment as it has a 'detox' kind of effect and push the impurities out of the skin. I guess it will be all worth it in the end right? :D

Thank you Dr Liu and the staff at Swiss Clinic for being so kind, patient and accommodating! :D

Snapask App

Hey guys!

Here's something an app that I would like to share with y'all - Snapask!

Snapask is a mobile tutoring app that launched in Singapore last year. How I wished this was available when I was mugging during my secondary school days! >< Basically, the app allows you to snap a photo of your question, and a tutor will come and help you! In Singapore alone, they have over 850 tutors from local universities such as NTU, SMU, and NUS.

Even though my exams are over, I decided to try out the app anyway. And along the way I thought of 5 ways the app can save a student’s life!

1. When you’re mugging through the night and you get stuck

You know that feeling - when you’re in your zone of mugging and going through the TYS (Ten Year Series) questions like Flash.. and SUDDENLY, you encounter a super hard question that you can’t solve no matter how hard you try. However, it’s 2am.. and no one's available to pick up your call. :( Certainly not the ghostbusters (haha).

Luckily, the tutors on Snapask are available 24/7! Look:

The tutor was kind enough to work out the solution step by step for me :D

2. When you’re too shy to ask questions in class

I don’t know if any of you feel this way but I do all the time! Everytime the teacher asks “does anyone have any questions?” I would scream ME! in my heart but keep quiet because I think the rest of the class already understands… especially when my class had so many smart people who ask cheem questions way beyond my league. I feared getting judged by these people because I thought it would sound like a "stupid" question to them.. :p

However, on Snapask, your class will not be there to judge you for asking a “stupid” question. No one can tell who you are by your username too. Plus, the waiting time for a tutor to pick up your question might be even less than a minute so NOBODY KNOWS! It's perfect for clearing all your doubts.

3. When you don’t have time or have no need for physical private tuition

With CCA and other commitments, sometimes it’s hard to schedule a fixed timing every week. There are times when my friends have to cancel tuition due to the hectic timetable at school.

Perhaps your grades aren’t bad enough to warrant the extra money spent on tuition, or maybe your family can’t afford the expensive rates.

Whatever the case, Snapask offers homework help only on demand. So when you need it, you use it - giving you complete freedom of your schedule!

4. When your attention span drops during the holidays

It’s so ironic that teachers give students a mountain of homework - so much that we can’t fully enjoy the holidays. June is like a mug-athon seriously. Without the presence of teachers and classmates around, it’s easy to lose focus and momentum. My favourite thing to do during the holidays was to go out with friends, and catch up on my beauty sleep/korean dramas.

But there are spurts when I feel super motivated, and I think that’s when Snapask is most effective! Whether at 2am or 10 in the morning, with each question asked the homework mountain slowly decreases.

There are SO many reasons I think Snapask is useful for students. And the good thing is they cater to all sorts of subjects and curriculum too - PSLE, O Levels, A Levels, IB.

When you first sign-up, you get 3 free sessions. After that, you can either purchase 15 more sessions at $30. Even better, Snapask now has a Premium Package. At $80 a month, you can ask UNLIMITED questions. Super worth it - give it a try by starting a free 7-day trial!

Snapask is also organising an exclusive Indoor Picnic on Saturday, 25 June 2016.

Skin Senzes Nose Blackhead Peel Off Mask

Hey guys!

Most of us love eating strawberries but have you ever heard of a Strawberry nose? If you have plenty of blackheads on your nose, it looks as though they're the pips on a strawberry, therefore, its name :p

First of all, let's talk about what a blackhead really is. Blackheads are basically a clogged up pore that's filled with excess oil. It becomes oxdised (darkened) when the oil can't be released out into the skin due to it being blocked (in most cases, it's due to dead skin cells).

Blackheads are most commonly found on our face - specifically on the nose!

I remember the first time I realized my nose had a lot of blackheads and I used my fingers to pick on them to squeeze them out because I was dying to get them out of my nose.. -_- I somewhat got addicted to it (LOL) as it was rather satisfying to see the gunk oozing out from your pores. It was gross but oddly satisfying. Somehow. Somewhat. PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR FINGERS TO SQUEEZE BLACKHEADS ON YOUR NOSE LIKE I DID! I regret my actions now because all that led to enlarged pores and I realised after squeezing them with my fingers my sensitive skin becomes red and angry and flakes off too.  I wished I knew proper skincare when I was younger. (Sigh)

I'd like to introduce you Skin Senzes Nose Blackhead Peel Off Mask set.

NOSE BLACKHEAD PEEL OFF MASK set consists of:
RSP: SGD $29.90 each excludes delivery charges*
1 X Nose Blackhead Peel-Off Mask 60 ML
1 X Pores Minimizing Serum 30 ML
1 X Facial Blackhead Cleansing Brush FREE (worth SGD $19.90* – For limited period only)

It effectively removes blackheads, whiteheads and impurities on targeted skin areas and cleanses off tiny pores hairs instantly which cause clogged pores. It moisturises and soften the pores to effectively remove stubborn blackheads and whiteheads and making it easy to peel off.

The first thing I noticed about the mask was the smell.

Apparently it is infused with multiple fruit extracts, it's no wonder it smells so good! I was kind of worried that it would smell like a glue as it's texture is similar whereby it's sticky at first but dries off after that and be ready to be peeled off.

It is really easy to use as well! All you got to do is spread the mask onto your concern areas around the nose. I always try to make the mask as perfectly shaped as I can :p I'll advise you to spread it around a lil bit thicker so that you can peel the mask off in one piece after it dries off! Also, be sure that you get your hair out of your face too as you don't want them to stick onto the mask. (yes, the mask is very sticky)

I feel like I'm turning into a panda.

Leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes for the magic to happen. :p You will know it's fully dried up if the mask is not shiny and sticky anymore. :D

Try to find something to do while you wait for the mask to dry. For me I like to use my phone to be updated on social media or play games.

After the mask is dried up, peel it off and admire all the gunk stuck onto the dried up mask while trying to believe all that was inside your nose 20 minutes ago. You're lying if you say you don't do that. I'm not gonna show you mine because I don't want to gross y'all out but if you're really dying to see what's like it on a used blackhead peel of mask, click here.

The next step is to apply the pore minimizing serum to sooth, calm and hydrate your pores. Based on my own experience, after peeling off the mask my skin will be a little red but after I apply the serum, the redness will disappear overnight - which is awesome! :D

Is it for drinking?

Nah, just kidding~

Just apply the serum directly onto your nose and you're good to go! :D

Oh yes, the best way to be 'strawberry nose free' is to prevent them from forming as  it saves you the hassle from getting rid of them!

Here's the facial blackhead cleansing brush included in the kit for a limited time period only! It has little bumps to exfoliate your skin gently.

When you exfoliate your skin, you remove excess dead skin cells. This is very important because dead skin cells is what blocks the excess oil from flowing freely out of the pore. It also helps to clean out the pores so they don't look stretched (from being filled with excess oil) thus making the pores looking smaller.  So exfoliate your skin at least once a week (twice if your skin can tolerate it) or use a gentle daily exfoliating scrub daily.  It's gentle enough on my sensitive skin but works amazingly well.

Prevention of blackheads is a lot easier than getting rid of them. In general, exfoliating is a great way to prevent blackheads. Also, remember blackheads can also be caused by different factors too such as being unhygienic and stress (hormones going crazy) so our lifestyle can also influence our blackheads too!

Soozip @ Orchard Central

Hello all!

Just a few days ago I was at Orchard Central with my friends for the Soozip Korean Designer Fair. They have a huge variety of handmade and trendy accessories for sale until the 13th of January! I made sure to check out every individual merchant's table for "treasures" and I'm glad to share with you my top 3 picks!

#1 Headbands

These headbands were the first to catch my eye! I couldn't decide between the pink or the grey one because they're all so pretty!!! I love how the gold chains make them so elegant.

Hehe!Trying them on~ <3

I feel so princess-y with the headband on HAHA!

Even though there were already so many merchants putting up their accessories for sale a few days ago, I learnt that more merchants will be taking part in Soozip's design free market!!!... and because I do not want to miss out on all the pretty accessories that are going to be available for sale, I will be coming down to take a look again soon!!!

#2 Bracelet

Here is another one of my favourite!!! Super pretty bracelet with charms made of glass. I did not get it that day because I was super indecisive. *Regrets* I will be back for this!!! So prettyyyyyyy.

#3 Rings

I can never have enough rings. I feel that they complete my outfits in a subtle manner. I've picked a few that I really love from Soozip! I'm sure you girls will be able to find at least 1 you love too! Gold or silver, they have them all.

There were a couple of interesting stuff that were pretty eye-catching too! One of them were the Swarovski/white gold plated accessory holders by PinkCrown. I wished that I had all of these to be displayed in my house. :( They're all so pretty and pink is also my favourite colour. They will be perfect as gifts................ *HINTHINT*

This porcelain cake is too cute that I had to take multiple photos with it HAHA!

Ellena's nail art matches perfectly with this. :D

I. WANT. EVERYTHING.

Too pretty!!!

Even these bracelets are so pretty and glittery ♥♥♥

Here is another interesting product that I chanced upon:
.

.
BULLET PROOF GLASSES????

The merchant shared with us that they actually filmed a video to prove they are bulletproof. SO INTERESTING!!!

Yay. Now our eyes are bulletproof.

So yeah, this pretty much sums up the things that caught my attention :D You girls (or guys) must head down to Orchard Central to see for yourselves!!! I'm gonna let the pictures do the talking from now!
