NDP Funpack!

Hey guys!
A few weeks back, I attended a media event to learn more about the various engagement initiatives for NDP2016 and the best part was that the NDP2016 Funpack was finally revealed (I was really excited about it)!!! I am so lucky to be one of the first few to get my hands on them! :D

I especially love this year’s Funpack’s design and I’d totally bring it out on a casual day out for a swim or to the beach! :p It’s design is clean, simple and waterproof! Another plus point would be that it’s versatile since it can either be used as a backpack or a sling bag.

Here are the contents inside of the NDP2016 Funpack!
NDP 2016 will leverage technology to present a refreshed NDP experience that seeks to promote active audience participation. Each Funpack will contain selected interactive items which aim to engage spectators before and during the show.

1.                   LED Wristband. The LED wristband is programmable and can be wirelessly synchronized with the show’s lights and sounds. It is capable of emitting lights with varying intensity, in 16 different colours and modes (i.e., pulse, fade, solid and strobe). In wearing this LED wristband, every spectator effectively becomes an integral part of the show, collectively contributing to massive visual displays and being able to enjoy a truly immersive experience.
2.                   Souvenir Magazine. The souvenir magazine is embedded with digital content that aims to engage readers in an interactive way. With the use of augmented reality, readers can access additional content – such as images and videos – using the NDPeeps App on their mobile devices. For instance, readers will be able to view a 3-D time-lapse video of the National Stadium’s evolution by focusing the camera of their mobile device on a picture of the National Stadium in the magazine. The mobile device’s in-built motion tilt and accelerometer sensors allow users to pan and zoom during this 3-D time-lapse video, allowing the spectator to appreciate different perspectives of the transformation of the National Stadium.

In addition to the interactive items, there are also others such as NEWater, Hello Panda Biscuits, Face Tattoos, the Singapore Flag and the Singapore Scarf etc. :D

During the event, we also had to chance to see a sample of the mural named "Our Collective Dreams and Aspirations"

"Our Collective Dreams and Aspirations encourage students and youths to share their dreams and aspirations for Singapore’s future through painting. The use of creative expression – in particular, abstract art which permits free and limitless expression – aims to stretch the imagination of Singaporeans in dreaming of a better future for Singapore. Under this initiative, more than 50,000 individual paintings will be digitally stitched together to form a large mosaic. This stitching of the individual paintings together symbolises the need for collective ownership in charting Singapore’s future. Renowned Singaporean artist, Mr Sun Yu-Li, will create abstract designs based on each of the 51 years of Singapore’s nation-building and overlay them atop the mosaic. The resulting Our Collective Dreams and Aspirations thus represent the collective journey of our nation over 51 years."

The actual physical mural will be displayed around the National Stadium from 23rd July till National Day,9th August 2016. Also, you can download the  NDPeeps App from 7 July and use it to trigger additional content from this mural! All you got to do is to switch on the app, place your mobile phone over the physical mural and images/videos of past NDPs will be played on your phone!! Kinda cool huh!! Not only so, contributors to the mural can also use the app to locate his/her very own individual artwork within the mosaic! :D

During the event we also got a chance to meet former TV artiste, Mr Edmund Chen!!

So glad we managed to catch a group picture with him!

"Our Pledge to Singapore is a collaborative effort by Mr Edmund Chen, and children with special needs from Pathlight School as they co-design this year’s Pledge Card. Through drawings by Mr Chen and the Pathlight School students which depict the past, present and future of Singapore, the Pledge Card celebrates the artistic talents of children with special needs and showcases their unique perspectives of what it means to be Singaporean. The resulting Pledge Card seeks to encourage Singaporeans to similarly reflect on what it means to be Singaporean, articulate their commitment to the nation and share how they can put these into action to build our Singapore of tomorrow. This initiative serves to remind Singaporeans that nation-building is a continuous endeavor as we work to build our future together."

2016 marks the first chapter of the next 50 years of nation-building and our journey towards SG100. In line with the forward-looking theme of “Building Our Singapore of Tomorrow”, the NDP 2016 Funpack bears a distinctively bold design to encourage Singaporeans to take bold steps in shaping our own future. The translucent skin of the Funpack – a first since the inception of NDP Funpacks in 1991 – is central to the bold design. The Funpacks come in the colours of our State flag, and serve as a reminder to be rooted to the values that define our collective strength and harmony.

At the end of the event, we all had a mini photoshoot with our Funpacks  :D The colours of the Funpack were even colour-coordinated just for the group photo hehe :p I can’t wait to see how this year’s national parade will turn out! :D

Cheers! :D

My journey to clearer skin

Hey guys!

I usually have the occasional breakout before my period which was manageable with topical creams. However as I was trying out a few new products my skin reacted badly to it. At that time I did not figure out that it was the products that was causing my skin to have breakouts and continued using it, causing my skin to be worse and worse. I was rather depressed as it was taking too long to heal and I got rather impatient. My confidence was like -23746871524% as concealer cannot conceal bumps on my skin. I just wanted to stay home all day. I have to be careful next time as I have sensitive skin and not all products will suit my skin type.

My hairstylist’s friend recommended me to go to Swiss Clinic to consult Dr Liu to help out with my skin problems. On my first visit, Dr Liu recommended me the Dual Yellow laser acne treatment.
He explained the benefits of the Dual Yellow laser which would treat my acne by destroying bacteria without damaging my skin and help heal my scars. It is also effective for pigmentation (freckles/age spots), wrinkles, stretch marks and also aids in skin rejuvenation. Even warts and moles can be treated effectively with the Dual Yellow laser. After he explained everything to me, I was super excited for the laser treatment! :D

Here's there treatment room! :D

The whole process was rather quick and took about 45 minutes :D I had to get my hair away from my face and have it all cleansed to prep my face before the laser treatment. The laser treatment was not painful at all! My eyes had to be shield from the bright lasers beams.

After the laser treatment I had a mask all over my face to soothe my skin :D To me it was sleep time.

After the whole treatment I realized that there was a difference to my skin and it was in a better condition than it was before. My skin was clearer, smoother and brighter. I was so happy with the results. Of course more treatments are needed to achieve even better results and I can't wait till I achieve flawless skin! :D

Dr Liu also prescribed me a few medications(Doxycline, Retinol A Cream, Prednisone) which I paid for to keep my acne under control :D

Two weeks later, I came for my next treatment! This time, it was the Carbon Peel Laser Treatment :D

This is the machine that they used for the laser treatment. :D

Before performing the laser treatment, a layer of carbon lotion is applied on my entire face and allowed to dry over a few minutes. During the procedure, laser light is shot on the skin and is absorbed by the carbon lotion. It helps to exfoliating the skin and removing any debris in the pores.

The carbon lotion made me look like an inverted panda :p Hehe. After the treatment, my face was rather red. Thank god they put a mask over my face to soothe and reduce all the redness :D

By the time I left the treatment room, my face was GLOWING O.O When I looked into the mirror I realised my pores were noticeably smaller :'D This treatment is suitable for people with acne, enlarged pores, oily skin. fine lines and dull skin. So glad I could see results in just 1 treatment :D Dr Liu did inform me that I might face breakouts after the treatment as it has a 'detox' kind of effect and push the impurities out of the skin. I guess it will be all worth it in the end right? :D

Thank you Dr Liu and the staff at Swiss Clinic for being so kind, patient and accommodating! :D
